Monkey mind is a Buddhist term meaning “unsettled; restless; indecisive; uncontrollable”. All humans have one; and for thousands and thousands of years sages, monks, yogis, philosophers, psychologists and the rest have all tried to figure out how to “quiet” or “tame” the monkey mind.
MEDITATION IS A POWERFUL TOOL IN CALMING THE "MONKEY MIND", REDUCING STRESS & ANXIETY AND SHIFT FROM OPERATING IN AUTO-PILOT TO LIVING WITH INTENTION.
Many people have heard of the importance and power of meditation with many scientific studies published in the last ten years proving that:
Meditation improves your memory.
Meditation slows down neurodegenerative diseases.
Meditation helps to reduce blood pressure.
Meditation increases your emotional resilience.
Meditation is an anti-aging therapy.
Meditation helps to manage pain.
And yet so many people say: “But I CAN’T meditate.” “I tried and it didn’t work…” If this is you, and you are ready to experience the benefits and magic of meditation then please don’t worry. This workshop is DESIGNED FOR YOU.
Learning to meditate IS NOT ROCKET SCIENCE, but it is something that is best learned in a process with a teacher. In the tradition of Yoga, meditation is taught in tandem with and after the use of breath control practices called “pranayama” that make meditation easier when applied correctly. Meditation is related not just to the “brain” or mind but the entire nervous system and body.
In this 4-week course you won’t just sit and practice meditation you will also learn the science of how meditation works and the time-tested process that has been laid down from the philosophies of Yoga and Ayurveda since before the dawn of the previous millennium. This information will empower your practice.
Each week we will learn a bit of science or philosophy, learn and practice Pranayama techniques that will lead into a guided meditation practice and finish with a group discussion and a mindfulness “OM-work” practice. The practices will build on each other and each week we will add new layers to the Pranayama and meditation practices. This course will be an amazing opportunity to examine your mind and dive into the higher limbs of yoga’s 8-fold path: namely Pranayama, and Meditation.
